Helotes Humane Society does great work for all the animals that they can. They are a great bunch of people to work with. They go out of thier way to help animals in need of new homes. They all so take great care of the animals while they are waiting adoption. I have worked with over 50 different groups over the last 20 years and I have never worked with a group a good as Helotes Humane Sociey. I think the best way to say what I want to say is that they really, really, really care about the animals that need thier help.

The Helotes is excellent at taking what resources they have and using their skills to multiply the good they do many times over for the animals of the community.

This shelter helps the animals that no one else knows how to help. They need people that truly care. Helotes is fantastic!

It's a great place to give the animals I pick up off the streets of Helotes. They give the animals a second chance from being euthanized. They are great people and need a shelter so we can help these animals in need.

Very good!

To me the Helotes Humane Society is the "new and improved" version of the regular shelters and rescues. The dogs and cats live in actual foster homes 24/7, are being socialized, getting trained, and are getting in contact with all everyday situations that they may encounter in their new forever-homes. Therefore they are ready for whatever the future may hold, which increases their chances of staying within their new home tremendously! The people are happier and so are the animals! How much better can it get? =) The people at the HHS are really doing their best to give the animals they care for everything they need, trying to prepare them for a new home, giving their all in every way possible... They are a rather young rescue, so they really need as much support as they can get so that their wonderful work can continue to grow and help as many animals in need...

I am an animal lover and love to see homeless pets get forever homes. A friend of mine found a homeless dog. Gave it some care and cleaned it up and then tried to find a shelter that would take it in as she lives in an apartment and could not keep the dog. The folks at Helotes Humane Society came through!!! God bless them!

Helotes Humane Society: A group of wonderful people that truly care about saving the lives of animals. They find loving homes for dogs that otherwise would have been 'put down' at shelters.

Everyone who volunteers at HHS is extremely caring and dedicated to the welfare of animals in our community. The volunteer team spends countless hours trying to better our community and the lives of our furry friends by playing animals in great homes as well as doing community outreach such as low cost spay/neuter surgeries and a pet food bank for needly families. Such a great organization in its infancy and only greater things can be expected going forward in the future.

The Helotes Humane Society really makes a difference not only in our community by in all of San Antonio. They cooperate across city boundaries to focus a great group of volunteers where it is needed most. In just a couple of short years they have gone from nothing to become the best of the best. Big High Five to HHS. You rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I joined this group because they set up a program to foster animals in homes, not in a shelter environment. This is so important not only to the animal, but to the family who adopts. HHS is one of the very few organizations (in a city of close to 2 million people) that has a Pet Food Bank. They actively fundraise and seek grants to grow their spay/neuter and educational programs, which are sorely needed in a city that euthanizes 30,000+ animals each year. And HHS does it all with VOLUNTEERS! Awesome group of folks!

Hundreds of animals are dumped in Grey Forest and Helotes every year... now we can take these animals to someone who cares - the Helotes Humane Society... someone who can help medically and someone who will do everything in their power to find a home for these abandoned animals...

A group of awsome people volunteering together for saving the life of innocent dogs and cats abandoned or lost from their previous owners. Every pet is fostered in a loving home waiting to be adopted from the next forever family. This guys are doing a great job!
Barbara Moring
This is a marvelous, hard-working group of volunteers. The animals are placed in foster homes for care, training & socialization. The pet food bank gives food to needy families & small, private shelters. They provide vet care, neuter/spay services...I could go on and on and on!!!!!
julie nader
all they want to do is help, they started from nothing and have grown so much in a short amount of time placing hundreds of animals in news homes.
Caroline Byrd
Not only do they do good for the animals in their own community, but they have reached out several times and helped our TNR group adopt out kittens at events. I respect and admire the Helotes Humane Society.
Julie Ledet-Fremin

A fabulous group of volunteers determined to help find a home for every animal!!!
Diana Farrar
These folks do more for animals with fewer resources than any shelter/rescue group in San Antonio. I love them, and what they do. Their food bank is an innovative program that others should emulate.
Noel Robin
HHS is a very efficient and caring organization for the good of animals.
Donna Thompson
Because it cares!!!!!
Amanda Evrard
Helotes Humane Society uses a network of foster homes to care for animals, which ensures they are well socialized and ready to be part of a family of their own.

OMG - the best dedicated folks. All volunteer group formed a foster home network for animals in need. In addition this group formed a Pet Food Pantry that distributed pet food to families experiencing financial problems. They have distributed over 50,000 pounds of food since June 2008. The group also raised funds to provide low cost and in some cases free neutering. They will even go out and pick the animal up and deliver it to the vet for neutering. HHS has earned the respect of the all the other rescues and shelters in San Antonio.
Shelley Lewis
Helotes Humane Society has been in existance a little over a year and is already setting the example for other groups in our area. HHS has the most dedicated volunteer base with 100% of funds going directly to support their programs. Their unique concept of housing adoptable animals in private homes has resulted in more successful adoptions. For such a small group, they have done amazing things.
Rachael Wilcox
I've never seen a group of more dedicated people towards providing and ensuring the welfare of these animals. By opening their own homes through a foster system, they really do go above and beyond to find these animals forever homes.
Anne Baumgartner
The Helotes Humane Society is a small group of dedicated volunteers who provide a foster program and community outreach in the way of education, pet food support and a neutering program to needy families. Helotes Humane Society has been in existence for a year now and our fosterers have adopted out over 250 animals!
LJ Tanigawa
We care about the animals. We work real hard to find homes for the animals. We have a pet food bank, which offers food to people that are in financial difficulties and can't feed their pets. This keeps pets in their homes and not surrendered to shelters. We have a program that offers free spay/neuter to families who cannot afford to have it done. We are all volunteers with no physical shelter (yet) so all our animals are in foster care. We have a great team of volunteers.
